Job summary

Dreamwave, LLC in New York City seeks a Technical Designer to execute technical product specifications for Kohl’s Proprietary Brands. You will develop tech packs, communicate with vendors via PLM, and support pattern making, grading, and production improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical specifications for children\'s swimwear, outerwear and sleepwear with construction standards and tolerances
• Collaborate with Product Integrity to meet testing protocols
• Create tech packs and detail sketches
• Apply industry knowledge to resolve fit and production issues with suppliers
• Demonstrate proficiency in grading and consistency management with leadership and suppliers
• Prepare for Seasonal Sample Fit Benchmark by reviewing samples and suggesting improvements
• Communicate technical specs and collaborate with vendors via PLM during development
• Communicate sample corrections with sketches and photos
• Support vendor onboarding and TD training
• Pattern making knowledge to adjust patterns for overseas factories

About the Role

As Technical Designer, you will execute technical product specifications for multiple complex programs within Kohl’s Proprietary Brands.

What You’ll Do

• Develop accurate technical specifications in Children swimwear, outter wear and sleep , minimum construction standards, tolerances and grading requirements
• Collaborate with Product Integrity to ensure products meet performance testing protocols and requirements
• Create Techpacks, detail sketches, spec
• Apply industry knowledge to resolve fit and production issues, fostering supplier and peer relationships
• Demonstrate proficiency in grading and consistency management, aligning with Technical Design Leadership and suppliers to implement changes
• Prepare for the Seasonal Sample Fit Benchmark by reviewing samples and presenting hypotheses for product improvements
• Communicate technical specifications and collaborate with Vendors via PLM during product development
• Communicate sample corrections clearly to Vendors through written summaries, sketches and photos
• Support vendor onboarding and Certified Technical Designer training
• Additional tasks may be assigned
• Pattern making knowlege and the ability to correct patterns and communicate to overseas factories.

What Skills You Have

Required

• 5+ years of experience in Technical Design, Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Manufacturing or related industries
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing or a related field of expertise

Preferred

• Experience using PLM and Adobe Illustrator or similar specification packages and sketching programs
• Knowledge of textiles, construction and pattern-making/grading
• Browzwear and Optitex is a plus

This role is based at our New York Design Office. You’ll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
