  • Manage development and technical design workflow for Ready-to-Wear and Bridal.
  • Serve as main point of contact for Design during development; delegate and communication.
  • Set up, manage, and review BOMs and technical trims for styles.
  • Ensure feasibility of styles for production in collaboration with Design.
  • Provide technical feedback for size scales based on garment and fit.
  • Coordinate with patternmakers and QA to meet production deadlines.

Job description

Lela Rose is seeking an experienced Technical Design Manager with a passion for luxury craftsmanship and exceptional expertise in garment construction, patternmaking, fit, and production. They are a collaborative leader who partners closely with Design, Production, Patternmakers, and domestic manufacturing factories to bring elevated collections to life while preserving design integrity. Ready-to-Wear
  • Manage workflow of development and technical design
  • Be the point person for Design during development - delegate and communicate with team accordingly
  • BOMs
  • Work closely with Designer to ensure proper setup of BOM
  • Set up technical trims in BOM
  • Review and approve final BOM
  • Work with Design Team to ensure styles are feasible for production
  • In conjunction with Sales Team feedback, provide technical feedback for size scales based on garment style and fit. Designer is responsible for RLM style setup and appropriate updates.
  • Liaison between Design and Patternmakers during sketch pass off to provide strategies to meet deadlines
  • Manage responsibilities of Technical Designer and Patternmakers to ensure patterns are completed and approved to proceed into production by/before calendar due date
  • Active maintenance of patternmaking flow chart to ensure it is continuously updated and reviewed
  • Oversee that pattern corrections are consistent with fit notes and cutters musts are updated accordingly
  • Work closely with Technical Designer, Patternmakers, sample maker and factories on garment construction and finishings for each style from development through production
  • Lead production fittings alongside Patternmakers & fit model
  • Work with patternmakers to address fit issues with problem solving and technicality - speak to measurement and specs to provide resolution
  • Troubleshoot quality and technical issues with internal teams to maintain garment aesthetic/integrity, while remaining cognizant that methods must be executable for production
  • Coordinate with VP of Production to review and maintain that yields are most cost effective while maintaining design integrity
  • Work with QC Manager to ensure factories are maintaining quality during the production process
  • Review TOP and note any adjustments that may be needed in sewing and/or pressings
Bridal
  • Arrange and oversee the post-market meeting with sales, design & production
  • Schedule and organize production fittings; prepare garments and measurements for fittings
  • Manage Patternmaking process and timeline for all production and special orders
