Job summary

Luxury apparel brand is seeking a Technical Designer to own the technical development from concept to production, ensuring fit, construction, quality, and consistency across categories while partnering with Design, Product Development, Production, and factory teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical design experience in luxury or contemporary apparel.
  • Strong experience with knitwear, woven apparel, cut-and-sew, and denim.
  • Expert knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, patternmaking, measurements, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to lead fit sessions independently and manage sample approvals.
  • Understanding of factory workflows, production calendars, and quality-control processes.
  • Proficiency in Illustrator and Excel.
  • Experience with ERP and/or PLM systems preferred.
  • Excellent organization, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple product categories and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain technical packs with measurements, construction, BOMs, grading, sewing specifications, and fit notes.
  • Review design concepts and recommend practical technical solutions that maintain design intent and support production readiness.
  • Evaluate garment construction and propose improvements to quality, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Maintain organized technical documentation, seasonal standards, fit blocks, and sample archives.
  • Lead and support fit sessions across knitwear, wovens, cut-and-sew, and denim categories.
  • Measure and assess prototypes, fit samples, pre-production samples, and top-of-production samples.
  • Prepare clear fit comments and communicate revisions to factories in partnership with the Design team.
  • Track sample revisions through approval and maintain fit trackers for cross-functional teams.
  • Help establish and uphold seasonal fit standards and block libraries.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for domestic and overseas manufacturing partners.
  • Communicate fit comments, grading revisions, construction updates, and technical clarifications accurately and promptly.
  • Troubleshoot production issues while balancing quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Review factory feedback, recommend solutions, and support production efficiency improvements.
  • Visit factories and conduct quality-control reviews as needed throughout the production lifecycle.

Luxury apparel brand hiring for a fulltime Technical Designer to handle collection from development through production. This full-time role partners closely with Design, Product Development, Production, leadership, and domestic and overseas factories to ensure exceptional fit, construction, quality, and consistency across product categories.

About the Role

The Technical Designer will own key elements of the technical development process, translating design concepts into production-ready garments while preserving the original creative vision. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in garment construction, fit, grading, technical documentation, and factory communication, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
Technical Design & Documentation

  • Work with Production to support seamless handoff into bulk manufacturing and meet calendar milestones.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of technical standards, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of technical design experience within luxury or contemporary apparel.
  • Strong experience with knitwear, woven apparel, cut-and-sew, and denim.
  • Expert knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, patternmaking, measurements, and apparel manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead fit sessions independently and manage sample approvals.
  • Strong understanding of factory workflows, production calendars, and quality-control processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP and/or PLM systems is preferred.
  • Exceptional organization, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple product categories, deadlines, and seasonal calendars simultaneously.
