Job Title: Senior Technical Designer
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Senior Technical Designer to join its growing design team. This role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented technical design professional with a strong background in contemporary women's ready-to-wear. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, founder-led environment where new styles, capsules, drops, and collection updates are continuously being developed.
This position will partner closely with Creative Director and Founder. The Senior Technical Designer will play a critical role in ensuring fit consistency, garment construction excellence, and timely execution across multiple product categories.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Fit Management
- Lead technical development from prototype through production for assigned product categories.
- Create and maintain detailed technical packages, construction specifications, and fit standards.
- Conduct fit sessions and provide clear, actionable comments to vendors and factories.
- Evaluate samples for fit, construction, quality, and workmanship, ensuring alignment with design intent.
- Manage grading, measurement specifications, and garment standards across categories.
Product Development
- Partner closely with Design, Product Development, and Production teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support rapid product launches, seasonal drops, capsules, and special collections.
- Track multiple styles simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting aggressive timelines.
- Ensure consistency of fit and quality across a broad range of classifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate directly with creative leadership to translate design vision into production-ready garments.
- Communicate effectively with overseas vendors and manufacturing partners to resolve technical challenges.
- Provide technical solutions while preserving design integrity and brand aesthetic.
Preferred Backgrounds
Candidates should possess expertise in one of the following areas:
Option 1
- Strong knitwear and cut-and-sew technical design experience within the contemporary women's market.
Option 2
- Extensive experience with corsetry, bustiers, woven dresses, and structured garments.
Additional experience across multiple apparel classifications is highly preferred.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of technical design experience within contemporary women's apparel.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and patternmaking.
- Experience managing multiple product categories including dresses, tops, knitwear, corsetry, and ready-to-wear collections.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in technical design software and PLM systems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Salary $120,000-$125,000
