On behalf of The Home Office, we are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Remotely with occasional travel to the London Office.

As a Technical Delivery Manager embedded within a single product team operating on a strategic platform, you will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of technical change, cloud‑native capabilities, and platform enhancements. Your focus will be on enabling your team to effectively build, run, and improve services on AWS, applying DevOps and automation practices to drive speed, reliability, and operational excellence.

This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact Home Office cloud platform supporting secure, large-scale public services.

You will work closely with engineers, architects, product managers and platform specialists to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high‑quality cloud solutions. You will align delivery priorities, remove blockers and drive technical decisions to ensure the platform remains stable, cost‑efficient and continuously improving.

As a Technical Delivery Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Coordinating technical planning and roadmap delivery within the product team.
  • Ensuring cloud infrastructure, deployments, and environments are appropriately managed and maintained.
  • Championing DevOps practices including CI/CD, observability, automation, infrastructure‑as‑code and shift‑left testing.
  • Supporting the team to mature the build‑run‑improve cycle, including release automation, incident response, monitoring and alerting.
  • Maintaining delivery plans, sprint goals and release schedules for a long‑lived product team.
  • Managing risks, issues, blockers and dependencies related to the platform.
  • Acting as the main delivery contact point for team stakeholders including product leads, architects, business owners and other platform consumers.
  • Translating technical information into clear delivery decisions and communicating progress effectively.
Essential:
  • An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short‑term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)
  • Delivery experience within a cloud environment, ideally AWS, including working with teams building or running cloud‑native services.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
  • Experience working within a single multi‑disciplinary agile team delivering continuous increments of value.
  • Strong communication skills, able to translate between technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Desirable:
  • Strong understanding of AWS fundamentals (IAM, VPC, EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, CloudFormation/Terraform).
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer etc.).
  • Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, containerisation (Docker), or serverless patterns.
  • Understanding of SRE concepts (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets) and operational excellence.
  • Participation in platform engineering or DevOps communities of practice.
