The J. M. Smucker Co. in Memphis, TN seeks a qualified technician to support machine control systems and Rockwell PLC hardware, programming, VFDs and HMI across 12-hour shift operations. The role requires strong problem solving, teamwork, and the ability to work with external technical resources.
Applicants should have 5+ years of experience and be able to work overtime as needed. Forklift experience is preferred and the position is based on site in Memphis.
5-years of experience supporting machine control systems Demonstrated knowledge of Rockwell PLC hardware, PLC programming, VFDs, and HMI Proficient knowledge of servos, encoders, linear actuators, pneumatic equipment, and sensors Strong ability to access and comprehend technical manuals via the internet, and interact with external technical resources while addressing problems Proficient knowledge of bearings, valves, piping systems, hydraulic systems, steam systems, gear boxes. Able to operate a forklift with previous forklift operating experience Effective team leadership skills including conflict resolution, problem solving (analytical troubleshooting processes), excellent interpersonal skills, communication (effective listening, giving and receiving feedback), time management, goal and priority setting, process improvement, organization Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision Able to work overtime and weekends according to business needs Ability to work a flexible schedule across shifts as needed to most effectively support the department
The physical demands described below represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and duties of this job. Employee is required to stand and lift frequently. Employee is required to use hands and arms for reaching/handling purposes. Employee is required to stand and walk at minimum 70% of the time. Employee must be able to work 12-hour shifts. Employee must be able to work any shift (day or night) including weekends and holidays if a business need arises. Employee must occasionally lift/push/pull or carry up to fifty (50) pounds and should be able to lift 30-35 pounds on a frequent basis. Employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis. Employee must be able to tolerate exposure to food allergens. Employee must be able to climb steps on a frequent basis as well as stand on or move around on platforms, equipment, and concrete floors.
