Job summary

MAINE OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS is seeking a Technical Codes Coordinator to support the Division of Building Codes and Standards. The role provides statewide technical expertise in construction codes, helps municipalities, and advances code development and training initiatives.

The position requires analyzing complex regulatory issues, presenting guidance, and collaborating with state agencies, boards, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Requires a background combination of education and/or experience showing technical expertise in natural resource program management or position-specific expertise.

Responsibilities

Respond to technical questions from municipal officials, code enforcement officers, contractors, and the public.
Provide nonbinding technical assistance and interpretations regarding codes and standards.
Develop and distribute technical guidance materials and educational publications.
Support code adoption, rulemaking, and policy development initiatives.
Develop and deliver training programs on building, energy, and related codes.
Coordinate projects related to building codes, land use, and manufactured housing.
Establish relationships with public officials, industry professionals, and stakeholders.
Contribute to Code Enforcement Certification curriculum development.
Facilitate discussions and resolve conflicts among diverse groups.
