About the company
This company is seeking an experienced technical and commercial leader to identify, develop, and commercialize new applications for advanced materials and engineered components. The Market Development Manager will own one of the company's strategic growth markets and be responsible for developing customer relationships, identifying new applications, securing design wins, and building a long-term growth pipeline.
This role requires the ability to understand complex engineering challenges and translate them into material and manufacturing solutions using the company's portfolio of advanced material technologies, including metal matrix composites, tungsten and nickel superalloy injection molded components, radiation shielding solutions, and other engineered products.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing technical requirements with engineers, developing business cases with executives, and leading opportunities from concept through production.

Serve as the commercial leader for an assigned market segment by developing deep market expertise, identifying new applications for CPS technologies, and driving long-term profitable growth through strategic account development, design wins, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development
- Develop and execute strategic growth plans for assigned market segments.
- Identify emerging applications, customer needs, and technology trends aligned with CPS capabilities.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Develop account strategies for key customers and target markets.
Customer Development
- Build relationships with engineering, procurement, operations, and executive-level stakeholders.
- Engage customers early in product development cycles to influence specifications and material selection.
- Position CPS as a trusted technical partner and problem solver.
- Identify opportunities to leverage multiple CPS technologies across customer organizations.
- Lead business opportunities from concept through production.
- Coordinate internal resources including engineering, operations, quality, and product development teams.
- Develop proposals, negotiate commercial terms, and secure design wins.
- Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity tracking within CRM systems.
Strategic Planning
- Develop market intelligence and competitive insights.
- Support annual operating plans and long-term growth initiatives.
- Represent CPS at trade shows, technical conferences, and customer events.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure customer success and timely execution of projects.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales, market development, applications engineering, product management, or business development.
- Demonstrated success developing new business opportunities and managing complex, multi-year sales cycles.
- Experience selling engineered products, advanced materials, precision components, or complex manufacturing solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
