Core Responsibilities
- Utilize cyber security monitoring tools to provide day‑to‑day operational support and monitoring of the IT computing infrastructure.
- Provide timely response, troubleshooting and escalation of alerts, and coordinate incident response efforts with the Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC) within the Information Security Group.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and support intrusion prevention, endpoint protection, data loss prevention, and access control technologies.
- Perform first‑level triage, analysis, and processing of alerts.
- Respond swiftly to all alerts; perform initial risk/impact assessments and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Open and track incidents through to resolution.
- Facilitate communications to both internal and external parties.
- Document security incidents, including impact and remediation actions taken.
- Analyze and investigate security events to determine root cause and threat severity.
- Provide real‑time and near real‑time responses to end users, technical support groups, and IT management.
- Perform first‑level threat intelligence processing.
- Collect and report metrics.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of relevant work experience in an IT field.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Security) with at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Associate’s Degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Security) with at least two years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience and Knowledge
- Previous IT experience required.
- Scripting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of security tools preferred.
- Good understanding of industry standard policies, processes and procedures covering incident, problem, and change management preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver’s License required.
- Technical certifications (e.g., Security+ or equivalent) preferred.
Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to company emergencies by performing a system emergency assignment to restore service to customers.
