Job summary

Westchester Community College in New York is seeking an unclassified staff member to support instructional laboratories, the library, and other service centers. You will operate and maintain laboratory equipment, use automated systems, and help keep inventory organized while providing technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in the area of specialty; substitutions of 30 college credits are possible.

Job Description

Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class assists in the performance of various support oriented academic duties to assist faculty and staff in instructional laboratories, the library or various other support centers at Westchester Community College. Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; use of automated systems; inventory control; equipment repair and maintenance, and providing technical assistance to administration, faculty and students. Specific duties may vary depending upon assignment. Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this position. Does related work as required.

Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and one year of experience in area of specialty.

Substitutions

Satisfactory completion of 30 credits in area of specialty at a recognized college or university* may be substituted for the experience.

• The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek.
• Verified and documented volunteer (unpaid) experience will only be credited when specifically allowed by the job description or examination announcement.
