Job summary

Wooddale Church is seeking a Technical Arts Director to design, implement, and advance the technical infrastructure for worship and ministry. You will lead Audio, Video, and Lighting across main spaces and campuses, ensuring reliability and scalability for services and events.

You will collaborate with ministry leadership and the CFO on budgets, standards, and long‑term strategy, while keeping a strong focus on worship quality and continuous improvement in both traditional and modern settings.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Arts Director is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and advancing the technical infrastructure that supports worship and ministry across Wooddale Church. This role provides leadership for all core technical systems (Audio, Video, and Lighting) in Wooddale's large event rooms and campuses, ensuring reliability, consistency, and scalability for major services, events, and future growth.

The Technical Director partners closely with the Creative Arts Pastor, Creative Arts Production Manager, and the CFO to align technical systems with ministry vision, steward resources wisely, and plan for long-term sustainability. This role focuses on infrastructure strategy, equipment standards, system health, and future planning while providing technical support and expertise that enables excellent worship experiences. This leader brings both ministry sensitivity and technical expertise, demonstrating a commitment to worship, excellence, and continuous improvement while supporting both traditional and modern worship environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

1. Provideownershipforthedesign,documentation,andfutureplanningofallAudio,Video,andLighting systems in Wooddale's primary worship and event spaces.
2. Establishandmaintaintechnicalstandardsforequipment,signalflow,networking,andsystem architecture across all campuses.
3. Ensuresystemsarereliable,service-ready,andcapableofsupportingmajorservices,specialevents,and multi-venue needs.
4. Providetechnicalexpertiseandsupportforlarge-scaleworshipenvironments,includingchoirs, orchestras, and complex musical productions.

EquipmentLifecycle&Maintenance

1. Overseethefulllifecycleoftechnicalequipment,includingevaluation,purchasingrecommendations, maintenance, repair, and replacement.
2. Developpreventativemaintenanceplanstoprotectsystemuptimeandreduceriskduringmajorservices and events.
3. Maintainaccuratedocumentationofsystems,signalpaths,inventories,andtechnicalconfigurations Strategic Planning & Future Development
4. Createandmanage5-yearand10-yearinfrastructureroadmapsfortechnicalsystemsacrosscampuses.
5. PartnerwiththeCreativeArtsPastorandCFOonbudgeting,capitalplanning,andprioritizationof technical investments.
6. ResearchandevaluateemergingtechnologiestoensureWooddale'sspacesremaincurrent,flexible,and mission-aligned.
7. Provideprojectleadershipandtechnicaloversightforrenovations,newbuilds,andsystemupgradesin large event rooms.

1. Serveasatechnicalresourceforcampusesbyprovidingguidance,troubleshooting,andsystemsupportas needed.
2. Ensureconsistencyandinteroperabilityoftechnicalsystemsacrosslocationswhileallowingforcontextual differences.

   4. Ability to work with and lead a team in providing technical support for a SATB choir of 130 singers,chamberchoirof24auditionedsingers,fullorchestraandinstrumentalensembles (strings and/or brass).

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

Projected salary range is $56,000 - $75,000 depending on qualifications.
