Job Description

The Modernization Lead is responsible for collecting and providing information for supporting enterprise-wide modernization of network, transport, cybersecurity, and C4ISR related systems. This role supports technical planning, systems engineering, architectural development, and cross stakeholder coordination to ensure solutions support organizational goals and operational priorities. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a consulting mindset—capable of diagnosing organizational challenges, identifying modernization opportunities, and developing solutions that improve operational tempo, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.

This position is located in Chesapeake, VA. This is an on-site role, with some remote options available.

Job Description:
  • Lead modernization planning and architectural development for networks, cybersecurity, transport systems, and information sharing or C4ISR related capabilities across enterprise or operational environments to be relayed to the Government customer
  • Develop technical roadmaps aligned with organizational priorities, mission needs, and long-term modernization strategies
  • Translate operational or business requirements into technical specifications, system designs, and integration strategies
  • Guide decisions related to data transport, cloud migration, hybrid architectures, network hardening, and secure information sharing solutions
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment across engineering, operations, IT, and program teams
  • Ensure technical designs comply with applicable DoW standards, organizational policies, and cybersecurity frameworks
  • Oversee system integration, testing, configuration management, and risk identification/mitigation efforts
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional engineering teams in support of modernization activities
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and assess their applicability to improving readiness, resilience, and operational performance
  • Conduct interoperability assessments and ensure alignment across related systems and enterprise architectures
  • Serve as the contract team’s stakeholder in meetings with the engineering team, providing critical insight into operational realities and potential constraints, helping to shape systems as they are developed
  • Help oversee all modernization actions taken by StratasCorp’s operational team, including shipboard network upgrades, Network Operations Center (NOC) cloud migration, and the introduction of new technology or processes to increase the efficiency and accuracy of StratasCorp’s technical efforts
  • Will be expected to contribute to special projects and company corporate tasking
  • Minimal Travel may be required
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of modernization planning and architectural development experience

The anticipated salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000 annually. The anticipated salary range for this position is provided in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. The final starting salary will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and work location (where applicable), as well as internal equity and market considerations.
