Are you a Big 4 or large public accounting Senior Manager ready to take the next step in your career?
Carolina PRG is partnering with a large, publicly traded organization headquartered in Charlotte to identify a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting for a newly created leadership position.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, advising senior leadership, and building processes that have a lasting impact on an organization.

- High Visibility & Executive Exposure: Work directly with senior accounting and finance leadership on complex transactions, strategic initiatives, and significant accounting matters.
- Leadership Opportunity: Hire, mentor, and develop a Senior Accountant while helping shape the direction of the team.
- Meaningful Impact: Play an important role in strengthening accounting practices, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
- Career Growth: Transition your technical accounting expertise into a highly visible corporate leadership position with opportunities to expand your responsibilities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serve as a subject matter expert on complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters, including revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, impairments, debt, equity, stock compensation, and other non-routine transactions.
- Lead technical accounting research, prepare and review accounting position papers, and provide practical recommendations to senior leadership.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Legal, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Internal Audit, and external auditors to evaluate accounting implications of significant business decisions.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation standards to ensure consistency across the organization.
- Help strengthen internal controls and support remediation initiatives to improve financial reporting accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements and lead implementation efforts across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate technical accounting processes and reporting workflows.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing technical accounting team.
What We're Looking For
- Active CPA license required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant technical accounting expertise.
- Strong background with a Big 4 or large public accounting firm highly preferred.
- Public company accounting experience, including exposure to complex transactions and U.S. GAAP research.
- Demonstrated ability to research complex accounting issues, develop sound conclusions, and communicate recommendations to senior leadership.
- Experience with internal controls, SOX compliance, accounting policy development, or remediation initiatives.
- Previous experience mentoring, reviewing, or managing accounting professionals.
- Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys the technical side of accounting but wants to have a broader impact on the business.
You may currently be a Senior Manager in a Big 4 or large public accounting firm, advising public company clients on complex accounting and reporting matters, and looking for an opportunity to bring that expertise in-house.
You'll be successful if you are intellectually curious, comfortable navigating ambiguity, confident presenting technical conclusions, and excited about building a function rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
If you're ready to move beyond advising clients and start owning the decisions, processes, and technical accounting strategy within an organization, we'd love to connect.
