Job summary

Abacus Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant in New York to support complex accounting matters and SEC reporting. You will work across business units and corporate teams to research guidance, update policies, and ensure proper financial disclosures.

The role requires 3–5 years of Big Four or equivalent experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and excellent communication skills. CPA preferred; familiarity with Workiva is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Big Four public accounting experience or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research.
• Experience with SEC reporting (Forms 10-K/10-Q) and footnotes disclosures.
• Understanding of controls over financial reporting and contingency assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Investigate technical accounting questions and provide guidance to business units and corporate teams.
• Track accounting standard developments and support implementation of new requirements.
• Update accounting policies, monitor exceptions, and maintain internal guidance resources.
• Develop SEC reporting materials, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q, financial statement footnotes and schedules.
• Uphold internal controls over financial reporting and related documentation.
• Evaluate SAB 108 adjustments and their impact on consolidated statements.
• Assess contingencies and proposed transactions for proper accounting treatment.
• Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders on technical accounting matters.
• Support Audit Committee materials and related financial analyses.
• Benchmark peer disclosures and accounting practices, presenting findings and recommendations.
