Job summary

IES is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join the Accounting team. This role will lead acquisition accounting, ASC 805 purchase accounting, and onboarding of new companies, while evaluating SEC guidance and documenting complex transactions.

The ideal candidate brings strong U.S. GAAP expertise, CPA designation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration with auditors and counsel is essential.

Qualifications

• Active CPA designation required.
• 4+ years progressive accounting experience, Big 4 or national firm helpful.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience applying ASC 606 in project-based/service models.
• Extensive experience with ASC 805 materials and purchase accounting.
• Ability to work independently and mentor others.
• Experience preparing technical memorandums and supporting audits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead ASC 805 opening balances and purchase price allocations for acquisitions.
• Coordinate with third-party valuation providers and review fair value analyses.
• Own onboarding program for acquired operating companies with playbooks and templates.
• Serve as technical accounting lead through diligence, closing, and reporting.
• Perform technical accounting research and document key issues.
• Monitor ASC/SEC changes and implement new standards and policies.
• Manage lease accounting from recognition to financial reporting.
• Prepare disclosures for technical accounting areas and assist SEC reporting.
• Provide guidance on accounting impact of business initiatives and contracts.
• Develop and enhance accounting policies and internal controls.
• Ensure SOX 404 compliance and update process narratives.
• Train and mentor accounting staff; lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Engage with auditors and senior leadership with clear communication.
