Job summary

AAON, Inc. is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to serve as the organization’s accounting policy and standards expert.

You will research new standards, develop policies, and assess financial reporting impacts across business activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external auditors. You will partner with financial reporting leadership, ensure accurate disclosures in filings, and maintain a strong internal control environment while supporting period-end close and audit

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting; 4+ years of experience in public accounting or a comparable environment; CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of current accounting standards, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Ability to interpret complex issues and clearly communicate recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares journal entries and supports period-end close activities as needed.
• Provides support to internal and external auditors, including preparation of requested documentation.
• Offers backup support to various accounting functions to ensure continuity of operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description: The Technical Accounting Manager serves as the organization's technical accounting expert, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and supporting compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role researches and interprets new accounting standards, develops accounting policies, and evaluates the financial reporting implications of business activities and transactions. Partnering with Financial Reporting, cross-functional teams, and external auditors, the position provides technical accounting expertise, supports accurate and timely financial reporting, and contributes to the effectiveness of internal controls and audit readiness.

Primary Duties Key Responsibilities Include:

Job Requirements Education:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting; 4+ years of experience in public accounting or a comparable environment; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

• Knowledge of financial reporting requirements and related disclosure expectations.
• Ability to interpret complex issues and clearly communicate recommendations to individuals without technical backgrounds.

• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes.
• Ability to respond effectively to time‑sensitive and high‑priority issues.

Essential Mental and Physical Functions:

Ability to perform work requiring concentration, analysis, and independent judgment. Regular use of standard office equipment including computers, phones, and filing systems. Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift or move files and office materials. Occasional bending, stooping, or standing may be required. May require travel for business or training purposes.

Work Environment:

Work performed in a professional office setting. Must comply with all organizational safety procedures and policies. Regular collaboration with accounting, finance, and cross‑functional teams.
