Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in HVAC or technical equivalent.
  • EPA 608 license and A2L certification.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on HVAC and mechanical systems experience.
  • Teaching or training experience in a technical field is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts for students.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Support instructors in R&D, testing, and maintenance of labs and classroom materials.
  • Lead hands-on training sessions and demonstrations using industry-standard equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain training materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Locate parts, diagrams, and drawings in the AAON database.
  • Keep lab and classrooms clean and fully operational.
  • Troubleshoot issues during tests and operations; implement fixes.
  • Ensure training complies with safety standards and AAON policies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and instructors to meet deadlines.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lab Technician to support our Technical Academy classes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics. Responsibilities include setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting labs, classrooms, and equipment, and assisting instructors before, during, and after training sessions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support instructors in research and development, testing, and maintenance of labs and classroom materials.
  • Assist in conducting hands‑on training sessions and practical demonstrations using industry‑standard equipment and tools.
  • Prepare and maintain training materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Locate parts, diagrams, and drawings independently within the AAON database.
  • Maintain the operation and cleanliness of the lab, classrooms, and fab shop to ensure proper operation.
  • May assist in the maintenance of the facility HVAC equipment and other systems.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of technical equipment and instruments used in training sessions, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during testing or operation, proposing and implementing solutions to ensure project continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulations, and procedures throughout the training process to meet project objectives and industry requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with instructors, engineers, technicians, and other team members to achieve project goals and deadlines, contributing to a productive and cohesive work environment.
  • Ensure all training activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree in HVAC, or equivalent, from a technical school; EPA 608 and A2L license/certification, or a minimum of 5 years or more of hands‑on experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics.

  • Proven experience in teaching or training in a technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and make them understandable to students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry advancements.
Work Environment
  • Assist in presenting materials in a classroom or lab setting, adhering to all classroom edict and AAON policies.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Travel to other facilities and off‑site locations as needed.
