Job summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Technical Writer for a three-year contract in the Birmingham, AL area. This role focuses on producing technical manuals, online help systems, and training materials.

The writer will liaise with customers, engineering teams, and support services to ensure accurate and clear documentation. The ideal candidate has experience in newsletters, strong writing and editing skills, and familiarity with engineering terminology.

Qualifications

• Experience in writing and putting together a newsletter.
• Ability to convey technical material in a concise understandable manner.
• Being highly organized and able to plan ahead.
• Creativity and graphics work is ideal.
• Familiarity with engineering terminology preferred.
• Oversee and coordinate work performed.
• Review, edit, and coordinate production of publications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the liaison between customer and support services, including graphic design, typing and document processing support, editing, proofing, and quality control.
• Understand company processes, products, and services to proactively address customer needs.
• Oversee and coordinate work performed to meet client needs and deadlines.
• Communicate project status with client and adjust workload or resources as needed.
• Create, maintain, and update user manuals, technical manuals, online help systems, and training materials.
• Editing and publishing tasks: planning, design, development, and deployment of new publications and revisions.
• Collaborate with SMEs to ensure accuracy of communication and details.
