Qualifications

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program (CAAHEP-accredited) desirable.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology desirable.
  • Current CME requirements compliance for specialty areas as appropriate.
  • Licensed as MRT or ARDMS/Registry Eligible (must register within first year) or ARRT certification.
  • CPR certification per AHA Healthcare Provider guidelines.

Working with TexomaCare means you will work with a care team of physicians, advanced practitioners, and staff who provide compassionate and quality care. TexomaCare is proud to be affiliated with Texoma Medical Center (TMC), the Texoma region’s leader in hospital services. Texoma Medical Center is a 414-bed acute care facility located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. More than 3,500 employees, 400 multi-specialty physicians, and over 100 volunteers have helped to support the hospital in delivering quality, patient-focused care to the Texoma region for over 50 years.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the daily operations of the ultrasound department, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or nursing departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolution. Routinely works weekdays, weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on-call status when needed. Will also be subject to assigned responsibilities in other departmental areas and /or other system-wide facilities as needed, with departmental head approval and appropriate training and direction as may be appropriate to the task. Qualifications

License: per licensure requirements.

Education:

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is desirable.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology is desirable.
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
  • Currently licensed as an MRT or Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registry Eligible (must become registered within the first year of hire) and/or Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R)
  • Must have and maintain current CPR certification, according to unit-specific needs. Certification must be per the curriculum of the AHA for the Healthcare Provider’s Program.

Work experience:

  • At least one year of experience in abdominal, small parts, neurosonology, and OB/GYN studies is desirable.
  • Bilingual (English, Spanish) status is desirable

Skills:

  • Knowledge of the healthcare field.
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to a particular medical specialty.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skills in performing tasks appropriately.
