Job summary

TexomaCare, affiliated with Universal Health Services, seeks a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Denison, Texas. You will operate ultrasound equipment, perform diagnostic studies, and communicate results to physicians.

You will manage daily workflow in the ultrasound department, coordinate with care teams, and ensure QA and patient safety. Must be flexible for varied shifts including on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program (CAAHEP-accredited) is desirable.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology is desirable.
  • Current CME requirements for specialties as appropriate.
  • Licensed as MRT or ARDMS or Registry Eligible (must become registered within the first year).
  • CPR certification per AHA Healthcare Provider program.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sonographic equipment independently and perform examinations.
  • Oversee daily ultrasound department operations, scheduling, and QA.
  • Report examination results and maintain equipment maintenance.
  • Interact with hospital staff and nursing departments to support patient care.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the daily operations of the ultrasound department, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or nursing departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolution. Routinely works weekdays, weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on-call status when needed. Will also be subject to assigned responsibilities in other departmental areas and/or other system-wide facilities as needed, with departmental head approval and appropriate training and direction as may be appropriate to the task. Qualifications

License: per licensure requirements.

Education:
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is desirable.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology is desirable.
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate.
  • Currently licensed as an MRT or Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registry Eligible (must become registered within the first year of hire) and/or Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R).
  • Must have and maintain current CPR certification, according to unit-specific needs. Certification must be per the curriculum of the AHA for the Healthcare Provider’s Program.
Work experience:
  • At least one year of experience in abdominal, small parts, neurosonology, and OB/GYN studies is desirable.
  • Bilingual (English, Spanish) status is desirable
Skills:
  • Knowledge of the healthcare field.
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to a particular medical specialty.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skills in performing tasks appropriately.
