Job summary

Skysong Innovations is ASU’s exclusive technology transfer and IP management partner, offering a Fellows Program for graduate students and post-docs to assess commercial potential of ASU technologies.

The Fellow will commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week for one year, with potential extension. The program includes hands-on IP, marketing, and licensing exposure, and cross‑functional collaboration with SI and ASU scholars.

Qualifications

• Graduate student or post-doc at ASU able to work at least 5 hours weekly.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex scientific ideas.
• Willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management and ability to deliver on time.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding ASU entities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a paid internship focusing on assessing tech and IP.
• Review ASU invention disclosures for IP protection.
• Work with business development on marketing and licensing.
• Engage with patent counsel on IP protection processes.
• Assist Physical Science team in promoting IP and education at ASU.
• Engage with outside investors, venture capital, accelerators and incubators.
• Participate in training to perform assessments of new technologies.
• Receive instruction on U.S. patent law related to patents.
• Learn marketing university tech and license negotiations.
• Other duties as assigned.
