Job summary

Plainfield Community School Corporation's Van Buren Elementary seeks a friendly Media Center Instructional Assistant to support students and teachers in the library, help with check-out, and foster a love of reading and learning. You will work closely with the Media Specialist in a dynamic school environment.

In this role, you assist with research and technology navigation, contribute to displays and literacy events, and help maintain an inviting library atmosphere for a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or youth in educational/library settings is valued.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy; ability to learn library management software.
• Patient, adaptable, highly organized, with passion for reading and learning.

Responsibilities

• Student & Instructional Support: Assist individuals and small groups of students with reading selection, research, and basic technology navigation.
• Circulation Management: Handle the check-in, check-out, shelving, and organizing of library books, media materials, and equipment.
• Environment & Programs: Help maintain an inviting, orderly environment. Assist the Media Specialist in preparing displays, book fairs, and special literacy events.
