Job summary

Job description

Perform duties to assist in the daily operations of the library and assist students and faculty with instructional material/programming needs.

Student Needs

• Supervise classrooms groups of students in the Media Center
• Demonstrate basic library skills and literary elements to students at their appropriate grade level
• Encourage a love of reading for all students
• Supervise students during flexible scheduling time period.

Staff Needs

• Communicate new materials that are available for curriculum supplementation
• Fill teacher book/materials requests from in-house collection and other sources
• Collaborate/Communicate with the Elementary Media Supervisor

Library Maintenance

• Process new books and materials
• Repair/clean/shelve books and materials
• Correspond with teachers/parents of past-due, lost, or damaged books
• Collect a wish list of books and supplemental materials needed for the individual library
• Maintain the library for a pleasing physical appearance and ease of use
• Maintain an electronic copy of library materials (decorations, furniture, etc.)
• Do a complete end-of-the-year inventory of all library materials (AV, videos and books)
• Use the automation software for the circulation and inventory of the library's collection
• Facilitate Accelerated Reader program, if necessary
• Maintain the library's webpage
• Communicate through emails for various job functions
• Research book/material online reviews online
• Willingness to learn new technology programs and share skills with students/staff
