About the Role: SAN is looking for an experienced, enterprising tech reporter with a track record of breaking news within the industry. This is an opportunity to carve out a distinct voice in the tech journalism space, breaking original stories and shaping industry conversations. In the fast-paced world of tech, we’re looking for a reporter who does more than chase the headlines. The right candidate has a strong network of industry sources, a nose for news and the ability to dive deep into a specific niche within tech, offering readers compelling content that puts human impact at the center of storytelling.

We are open to different specialties in tech journalism, so pitch us your niche. Are you passionate about algorithms? Do you have a groundbreaking angle on AI? Are you on the cutting edge of health tech? Do you have the pulse on Big Tech’s biggest playmakers? We want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Break exclusive, timely stories on developments in the tech industry.
• Own the beat by providing a mix of content, from quick-turns to in-depth investigative pieces. Collaborate with editors to refine ideas and deliver high-impact stories.
• Report on and write breaking news and major updates that impact the tech sector and our audience.
• Build and maintain a network of sources to stay ahead of the news cycle.
• Develop your own beat within tech and become the go-to expert in that field.
• Maintain the highest ethical standards of journalism. Ensure accuracy, clarity and originality in all reporting.
• Provide fair coverage of controversial issues that stays true to SAN’s mission of unbiased journalism.
• Collaborate with SAN’s multimedia and marketing teams to highlight your journalism on shows, podcasts, videos and social media.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a tech reporter with a track record of breaking original stories.
• A strong network of sources within tech.
• Exceptional research, writing and storytelling skills. Skilled in writing in AP Style.
• Commitment to accuracy, clarity and unbiased storytelling.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
