Job summary

McGuireWoods is seeking a Technical Advisor to join the Commercial Litigation - Patent group. The role supports patent litigation teams by analyzing computer-related technology and patents at issue in matters.

The position requires strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a focus on detail and confidentiality. The adviser will work in a hybrid environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive informed legal strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Planning and organizational skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with initiative.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential communications.
• Strong research and problem solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Understands developments in relevant technology areas.
• Analyzes standards and embodiments of technology relevant to cases.
• Analyzes patents and patent families; defines terms for litigation.
• Performs prior art searches for invalidity and other purposes.
• Conducts research on technology areas and teaches teams about the technology, products, and patents involved.
