Job Description:

1. The Medical Records Tech/Outpatient Coder will be responsible for all clerical and outpatient coding functions.
2. He/She is responsible for gathering all charts from floors daily.
3. They will code all records associated with outpatient ancillary services, clinical lab, Ambulatory Care, and Physical Therapy.
4. The employee is expected to be proficient in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
5. They are responsible for abstracting all data into the Meditech system and using 3M software to code.
6. They are responsible for analyzing charts and flagging for deficiencies and assigning to physicians for completion.
7. They are responsible for obtaining appropriate consents for the proper release of medical information.
8. Assists with mail, walk-in, and fax requests for records.
9. Answers multi-line telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.
10. Greets and assists employees from other departments in locating records.
11. Acts as backup birth registrar when needed and obtains annual education for compliance.
12. Assists with scanning and portal phone calls when needed. Able to multitask and meet productivity standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associates Degree or LVN with coding certification required.
2. RHIT, RHIA, RN OR LVN WITH CCS preferred.
3. Two years in a hospital or clinic setting required.
4. Proficient Computer and Typing Skills.
5. Positive, Compassionate, and Customer Service Oriented.
