Job summary

Toyota North America in Plano, TX is seeking a Tech Lead VPP to shape critical systems and drive scalable, cloud-native solutions in a fast-paced Agile setting. You will translate complex designs into real-world implementations and mentor engineers across teams.

You will own core features, influence architecture, and collaborate with enterprise architects and product teams to align technical direction with business priorities, ensuring reliability and long-term maintainability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience in Java, Spring Boot, NodeJS, REST APIs, and real-time streaming.
• Experience delivering cloud-native applications on AWS or other major clouds.
• Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on Kubernetes, containers, and deployment automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native technologies.
• Implement complex architecture with enterprise architects, contributing actively to development efforts.
• Work with stakeholders in Agile environments to align technical solutions with business priorities.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll play a central part in shaping the direction of critical systems—translating complex designs into scalable, real-world solutions. You’ll partner closely with enterprise architects and stakeholders in a fast-moving Agile environment, navigating ambiguity with confidence and clarity. From building core features to mentoring engineers and influencing architecture, you’ll be directly involved in the systems that matter most.

• Mentor junior engineersand elevate team standards through code reviews and technical leadership.
• Uphold best practices in testing, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring quality and scalability.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience in software development with a solid technical foundation with relevant experience in Java, Spring boot, NodeJS, REST API, Real time streaming architectures, microservices architecture patterns.
• Proven experience deliveringcloud-nativeapplications onAWSor other major cloud platforms.
• Familiarity withDomain-Driven Design (DDD)andevent-driven architecturein real-world systems.
• Solid background inmicroservicesandREST APIs.
• Proficiency withCI/CD pipelines(e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions),version control, and DevOps tooling.
• Experience withrelational and NoSQL databasessuch asPostgreSQL,MySQL, orDocument DB.
• Hands-on knowledge ofKubernetes, containerization, and deployment automation.
• Familiarity withmonitoring and observability toolslikePrometheus,Grafana,Datadog, orCloudWatch.
• Full ownership mindset—writing, testing, and validating your own code to ensure quality and reliability.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across architecture, engineering, and product teams.
