Job summary

Toyota Finance Services in Plano, TX is seeking a Tech Lead VPP to shape critical systems and drive architectural decisions in an Agile setting. You’ll mentor engineers, influence design, and own key components to deliver reliable, scalable software.

Responsibilities include building scalable applications with Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native tech, aligning solutions with business priorities, and ensuring quality through strong CI/CD, testing, and observability practices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, NodeJS, REST APIs and real-time streaming architectures.
  • Proven experience delivering cloud-native applications on AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design and event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects to implement complex architectures.
  • Work with stakeholders in Agile environments to align technical solutions with business priorities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and raise team standards through code reviews.
  • Uphold best practices in testing, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure for quality and scalability.

We’re looking for a Tech Lead VPP, who brings deep technical expertise, a strong sense of ownership, and a track record of driving meaningful outcomes

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll play a central part in shaping the direction of critical systems—translating complex designs into scalable, real‑world solutions. You’ll partner closely with enterprise architects and stakeholders in a fast-moving Agile environment, navigating ambiguity with confidence and clarity. From building core features to mentoring engineers and influencing architecture, you’ll be directly involved in the systems that matter most.

  • Design and develop scalable applications usingJava,Spring Boot, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Implement complex architecture in collaboration withenterprise architects, contributing actively to development efforts.
  • Work withstakeholders in Agile environmentsto align technical solutions with business priorities.
  • Bring structure toambiguous requirementsthrough sound engineering judgment and initiative.
  • Own critical components, driving performance, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Mentor junior engineersand elevate team standards through code reviews and technical leadership.
  • Uphold best practices in testing, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring quality and scalability.
What you bring
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proven experience in software development with a solid technical foundation with relevant experience in Java, Spring boot, NodeJS, REST API, Real time streaming architectures, microservices architecture patterns.
  • Proven experience deliveringcloud-nativeapplications onAWSor other major cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity withDomain-Driven Design (DDD)andevent-driven architecturein real‑world systems.
  • Solid background inmicroservicesandREST APIs.
  • Proficiency withCI/CD pipelines(e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions),version control, and DevOps tooling.
  • Experience withrelational and NoSQL databasessuch asPostgreSQL,MySQL, orDocument DB.
  • Hands‑on knowledge ofKubernetes, containerization, and deployment automation.
  • Familiarity withmonitoring and observability toolslikePrometheus,Grafana,Datadog, orCloudWatch.
  • Full ownership mindset—writing, testing, and validating your own code to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across architecture, engineering, and product teams.

  • Experience working inFinTechor other highly regulated, enterprise-scale environments.
  • Exposure toLLM workflows or integrating ML models into production systems.
  • Familiarity withscalable messaging platformssuch asKafkaor other streaming technologies.
