Job summary

CNH Industrial is seeking a Tech Lead for Perception on Agricultural Systems in Tempe, AZ. This hybrid role leads perception system development, sensor selection, and collaboration with hardware and product teams to translate agronomic needs into technical specs.

You will design robust perception algorithms, oversee field testing, enforce code quality, and drive CI/CD practices while mentoring engineers and setting clear OKRs in a collaborative, global team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience in perception systems.
• 5+ years of software development with C++ (C++14+) and Python.
• Leadership experience developing commercial perception solutions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect robust perception systems for cameras, LiDAR, radar and thermal sensors.
• Develop computer vision, sensor fusion and ML algorithms.
• Design for harsh environments with dust, mud, vibration, and lighting changes.
• Oversee field-testing campaigns to validate real-world performance.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to select sensors and compute platforms.
• Translate agronomic needs into technical specifications with product managers.
• Establish safety baselines for obstacle detection and hazard mitigation.
• Enforce code quality through reviews, tests and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead performance reviews, OKRs and ongoing team growth.
• Facilitate daily standups, sprint planning and retrospectives.

Job Purpose

As the Tech Lead for Perception on Agricultural Systems, you will oversee the engineering development of perception algorithms and sensor selection for use in various agricultural applications like autonomy, sense and act, row guidance, and more.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect robust perception systems capable of processing data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, and thermal sensors in real time.
• Develop and maintain computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning algorithms.
• Design for extreme environments, ensuring perception algorithms resist dust, mud, vibration, and shifting lighting.
• Oversee field‑testing campaigns to validate system performance in real‑world crop conditions and diverse growth stages.
• Partner with hardware teams to select optimal sensors, compute platforms, and mounting locations on vehicles.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate agronomic needs (e.g., weed detection, yield mapping) into technical specifications.
• Establish safety‑critical baselines for obstacle detection, collision avoidance, and hazard mitigation in open fields.
• Manage vendor relationships with sensor manufacturers, labeling services, and cloud compute providers.
• Enforce code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Conduct performance reviews, set clear OKRs, and foster continuous professional growth for team members.
• Facilitate daily standups, sprint planning, and agile retrospectives to keep projects on schedule.
• Promote and maintain the highest possible environment of teamwork and collaboration.

Experience Required

• Master’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of engineering experience working with perception systems to solve vision based problems with AI and computer vision algorithms.
• 5+ years of software development experience with modern C++ (C++14 or newer) and Python.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience with teams developing commercial solutions with perception technology.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is $137,475 - $210,795 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
