Job summary

Tem-Energy in the United States is hiring a Tech Lead for our Payments squad, part of Saldo, our Billing and Payments service. You will own the squad's delivery, set technical direction, and write design docs while solving hard problems with the team.

In the first 12 months you will shape architecture for growth, define how the squad works, improve cost-to-process, and coach junior engineers while collaborating with the senior engineer and the Service Manager.

Qualifications

• Track record as a tech lead, owning the squad's delivery and the standards it works to.
• Leading from the front: writing design docs, reviewing PRs/ADRs, solving problems hands-on while setting direction.
• Balance hands-on work with coaching junior engineers; maintain quality and pace.
• Experience designing a team's ways of working from scratch, balancing speed, quality and resilience.
• Owning cross-team sequencing and dependencies, diagnosing throughput issues rather than just reporting them.
• Comfort cutting through ambiguity to set technical direction and drive blockers to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own the squad's delivery and the standards it works to, shipping work we're proud of.
• Lead from the front: write specs and design docs, review PRs/ADRs, solve problems directly through code or workflows.
• Set the payments architecture direction to enable growth.
• Cut the cost-to-process by improving payment accuracy and processing efficiency.
• Design how the squad works and define its operating model and pace.
• Own sequencing and dependencies, ensure work is visible to stakeholders and resolved.
