Job summary

Ascend Performance Materials seeks a Technology Laboratory Support Engineer to partner with the Product Technology Manager in the injection molding and materials testing laboratories. The role coordinates daily activities, maintains safety, ensures equipment readiness, and supports molding, testing, and development projects.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, polymer science, or related field.
• 2–7 years in an industrial lab or polymer-processing environment.
• Experience with injection molding, materials testing, or lab operations.
• Knowledge of polymer chemistry and ASTM/ISO/IEC/UL standards.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory Operations: plan, prioritize, and coordinate daily activities across injection molding and materials testing labs.
• Coordinate incoming work requests, clarify scope and timing, communicate priorities, and provide status updates.
• Maintain laboratory organization, 5S, material identification, specimen traceability, and accurate records.
• Injection Molding: perform/support molding of test specimens, material prep, machine setup, mold changes, process adjustments, documentation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Materials Testing: perform/support physical, thermal, electrical, mechanical, and flammability testing per procedures and standards.
• Equipment Readiness and Maintenance: routine checks, calibration coordination, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Quality and Compliance: support ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, internal audits, corrective actions, and record control.
• Technical Support and Problem Solving: generate data and support summaries for customer requests; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Training and Technical Guidance: train and coach technicians; provide direction to lab personnel.
• Methods and Continuous Improvement: help develop and improve test methods and work instructions.
