Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current registration as a pharmacy technician by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
• Current national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).

Responsibilities

• Stock inventory in the Inventory Control Area.
• Fill and distribute patient medication orders under supervision by a pharmacist.
• Identify shortages or excess inventory and organize storage.
• Ensure inventory records are accurate and up to date.
• Daily receiving and verifying medication shipments.
• Check expiration dates on medications.
• Assist with inventory audits and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain proper medication storage and handling procedures.

General Summary

The Pharmacy Technician will be working in the Inventory Control Area, stocking, filling, and distributing patient medication orders under the supervision by a registered pharmacist following established policies and procedures. The responsibilities below describe the essential duties of the person or persons assigned to this job. They are not intended as an exhaustive list of all job duties and responsibilities.

A $5000 sign on bonus is offered for this full time 40 hour a week position.

Key Responsibilities

• Inventory control
• Identifying shortages or excess inventory
• Organizing and rotating medication stock
• Ensuring that inventory records remain accurate and up to date
• Daily receiving and verifying medication shipments
• Checking expiration dates
• Managing medication storage
• Assisting with inventory audits
• Identifying discrepancies between physical inventory and system records

Education, License and Certifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Current registration as a pharmacy technician by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy
• Current national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Experience

• 1+ years of inpatient pharmacy experience
• Strong teamwork skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to learn effective techniques and processes resulting in few errors or defects
• Basic knowledge of basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow direction

Must possess the following pharmaceutical knowledge/skills:

• Basic pharmaceutical calculations
• Basic knowledge of medical & pharmaceutical terminology

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
