Job Summary

Responsible for designing and updating the electronic facility and maintenance information systems, preparing reports, analyzing data, and maintaining system architecture.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and perform edits in electronic facility and maintenance information systems (GE Smallworld, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Applications, AutoCAD).
• Perform QA/QC on as-built designs and construction projects to ensure accuracy in the GIS electric model.
• Enter daily input and editing of Entergy’s as-built electric distribution GIS model.
• Maintain ongoing spatial data maintenance and dissemination, provide end‑user support, and generate maps and other GIS reports using ArcGIS, GE Smallworld, and other applications.
• Prepare regular status reports highlighting GIS issues requiring attention.
• Prepare reports and data analysis.
• Perform records management activities.
• Lead training of other employees to navigate and edit within GIS.
• Conduct field walkdowns to identify subsurface conflicts and validate facilities.
• Support engineering, construction, maintenance, conflict resolution, and damage prevention activities.
• Assist in planning and implementation of data conversion and migration activities.
• Assist with distribution facility design.
• Provide storm/outage restoration assistance.

Minimum Education & Experience

• 2‑year technology or bachelor’s degree in geography, geosciences, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 2 years of experience using GE Smallworld, ESRI ArcGIS, and/or vector/raster rendering systems (or equivalent academic experience).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, GE Smallworld, and vector/raster rendering systems; technical expertise in asset management.
• Proficiency in GIS, coordinate systems, and geography.
• Skills in computer programming (Python, SQL), imaging, multimedia, PC applications, networking, and databases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interface with all levels of management and employees.
• Budgeting, work planning, employee counseling/coaching/mentoring skills.
• Adaptability to both field and office environments; availability for late hours, callouts, weekends, outage restoration, gas or electric restoration during emergencies.
• Ability to lead GIS/data research projects.
