Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking a Technology Consultant to help optimize business processes and enable flight operations with innovative IT solutions. Based in Sacramento, this position partners with the Organization Planning Group to drive client experience improvements and cross-functional projects.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor degree, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical technical proposals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of business and management principles related to planning, asset distribution, HR modeling, administration processes.
• Knowledge of processes for delivering client and personal services, including client needs assessment and quality standards for services.
• Ability to understand implications of new information for current and future problem solving and direction.
• Ability to use logic to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches.
• Ability to focus on what others are saying, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupt at inopportune times.
• Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing so others will understand.
• Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, which does not include fixing the problem.
• Ability to analyze medium to large business or technical problems, articulating the issue or root cause, and translating analysis into feasible solution proposals.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to research, create, and document requirements, processes, and technical details.
• Ability to manage and prioritize highly diverse and broad work streams/tasks.

Responsibilities

• Identify better approaches to add value through business process improvements and technology upgrades proactively.
• Analyze impact of issues, align with goals, and escalate to Initiative on a case by case basis.
• Complete allocated and project undertakings with minimal heading.
• Develop deep understanding of client needs, value drivers, and difficulties, and utilize this information to interpret client needs.
• Drive solutions within a group/team without being an expert.
• Collaborate with Senior Leadership across the Organization to lead activities required in ongoing development and delivery of key initiatives.
• Expect broad scope, complex problems within area; including risk, constraints, timelines, scope, etc.
• May perform other duties as directed by Employer's Managers
