Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking a Field Technical Advisor to support producers caring for the company's birds.

You will advise on housing, litter, sanitation, and equipment settings, visiting farms to document bird comfort and health. You will monitor feed consumption, collect samples when required, coordinate chick placements, and assist with catch schedules while ensuring contract compliance and biosecurity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or related experience preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, with active listening.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and email.
  • Travel 1–5 trips per year.
  • Biosecurity agreement required; company policy followed.
  • Relocation assistance eligible: Yes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance on housing, litter, and farm sanitation.
  • Visit farms to document bird comfort, monitor health, and adjust settings.
  • Monitor feed consumption and place orders as needed.
  • Collect blood and fat samples as required.
  • Coordinate chick placements to contracted farms.
  • Assist with catch schedules and interdepartmental communication.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA regulations and contract terms.
  • Support hatchery, feedmill, and livehaul coordination for weekly chick placements.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job Details

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to producers caring for the company's birds regarding the proper care and comfort. Duties would include, but are not limited to:

  • Advising producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation.
  • Visiting farms to document bird comfort, manage flock and equipment settings, monitor bird health, and provide remedy when possible.
  • Monitoring feed consumption and ordering if necessary
  • Pulling blood and fat samples as required
  • Coordinating chick placements to farms
  • Assisting with catch schedules
  • Ensuring communication among Hatchery, Feedmill, and Livehaul departments regarding their contract farms.
  • Ensuring compliance with the production contract to optimize flock quality and minimize costs.
  • Ensuring adherence to all USDA and other government regulations regarding poultry handling.
  • Working with the Broiler and Breeder Departments in coordinating weekly chick placements
  • Performing other responsibilities as the need arises.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means. Proficiency in active listening, ensuring mutual understanding, and adapting communication style to various audiences.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills such as checking electronic mail, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries.
  • Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.
  • Biosecurity: Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered, required to sign a Bio-security agreement to avoid any non-commercial avian species examples: chickens, ducks, birds, parakeets, parrots, etc. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
