Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a field-based role to provide technical assistance to producers caring for the company’s birds, focusing on proper care and comfort of flocks.

The position requires education in agriculture and 1+ years in poultry or related fields, with strong communication and basic computer skills. Travel is required, and compliance with USDA regulations is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Basic computer skills such as checking email, entering data into templates, or creating simple queries.

Responsibilities

  • Advising producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation.
  • Visiting farms to document bird comfort, manage flock and equipment settings, monitor bird health, and provide remedy when possible.
  • Monitoring feed consumption and ordering if necessary.
  • Pulling blood and fat samples as required.
  • Coordinating chick placements to farms.
  • Assisting with catch schedules.
  • Ensuring communication among Hatchery, Feedmill, and Livehaul departments regarding their contract farms.
  • Ensuring adherence to the production contract to optimize flock quality and minimize costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with USDA and other government regulations regarding poultry handling.
  • Working with Broiler and Breeder Departments in coordinating weekly chick placements.
  • Performing other responsibilities as the need arises.

Requirements
Education

Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.

Experience

1+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.

Strong Communication Skills

Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means. Proficiency in active listening, ensuring mutual understanding, and adapting communication style to various audiences.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills such as checking electronic mail, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries.

Travel

1 to 5 trips per year.

Additional Requirement

Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl.
