Job summary

Wind Creek Hospitality seeks a Team Member Relations Specialist to manage personnel policies, investigations, and disciplinary actions within a casino environment. The role covers FMLA, absence management, grievances, and policy compliance across departments.

Requires strong English and Spanish communication, HR or labor relations experience, and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Illinois Gaming Act license compliance is needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or completing GED within 6 months.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years in Employee Relations or Labor Relations or an Associate degree with 4 years experience.
  • Experience conducting, assessing, and writing investigative reports.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

  • Conduct thorough, objective investigations into harassment and workplace issues.
  • Ensure disciplinary actions comply with policies and laws.

Initiates and conducts employee investigations, prepares documentation and makes recommendations for corrective/disciplinary actions.

Initiates and conducts employee investigations, prepares documentation and makes recommendations for corrective/disciplinary actions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Team Member Relations Specialist works to resolve Team Member – Management disputes when communication between the parties have broken down
  • Conducts thorough and objective investigations regarding but not limited to harassment (sexual harassment), workplace issues, disciplinary actions and complaints
  • Ensures that disciplinary actions are fair, consistent and comply with the Wind Creek Expectations Guide and all relevant federal, IL laws, regulations, company employee standards and expectations
  • Develops, recommends, and implements employee and or labor relations practices and polices
  • Ensures uniform application of the Wind Creek Expectations Guide, HR policies, procedures and practices
  • Conducts ongoing organizational audits and surveys to identify employee and labor relations issues; Takes appropriate actions to address and resolve issues
  • Conducts exit interviews, surveys and analyze feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Arranges for distribution of periodicals, professional articles, and research information to department managers for review and discussion
  • Participates in the design and delivery of supervisory/management presentations based on trends in employee activities, changes in federal and IL employment laws, employee benefits, employee safety and progressive development in Human Resources
  • Participates in the design and delivery of internal employee relations materials regarding policy, procedures and practices
  • Assists in the preparation of other presentations directed towards employees
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations
  • Provides a professional and efficient service to operational departments which is valued by the employees
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)
  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  • Bachelor’s degree with a two (2) years of work experience in Employee Relations or Labor Relations– required
    • OR Associates degree with four (4) years of work experience in Employee Relations or Labor Relations– required
  • Experience with conducting, assessing, and writing comprehensive investigative reports– required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish- required
  • Work experience in a casino environment desirable
  • SPHR or PHR certification desirable
  • Knowledge of federal, IL laws and regulations with an emphasis on those related employee and labor relations
  • Knowledge of EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) and IL Human Rights Commission laws and regulations
  • Experience conducting presentations at all levels of the organization
  • A flexible communication style and the ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to change the style of approach to suit individual employees and managers when necessary
  • Experience with building and maintaining excellent work relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
  • Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
Base Pay:
  • Compensation:$52,600.00-$65,000.00 annually, with starting pay based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and skills.
