Job description

We are a from-scratch bakery seeking a baker to work 2 days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday), with shifts from either 8am - 4pm or 10am - 6pm. The position offers a pay rate of $17 - $18 per hour.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of baking duties and assists with preparing breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, cakes, doughnuts, and other pastries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Position Responsibilities
  1. Ability to prepare and bake a variety of pastries, rolls, and other baked goods, including icing and frostings, according to established recipes.
  2. Monitor and maintain quality control standards.
  3. Knowledge of care of culinary equipment, supplies, and materials.
  4. Knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
General Responsibilities
  1. Review production schedules to determine the variety and quantity of goods to bake and prepare supplies and equipment needed.
  2. Apply toppings to specialty baked items.
  3. Shape dough for cookies, pies, and other pastries by hand or using tools.
  4. Cut, weigh, mold dough, and place in pans; inspect products for quality and make adjustments as needed.
  5. Detect and dispose of spoiled or unattractive food and defective supplies.
  6. Clean and maintain work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  7. Prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus.
  8. Operate with a sense of teamwork.
  9. Report to work on time for scheduled shifts.
  10. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  11. Accept and follow directions and delegated tasks.
  12. Perform tasks at an acceptable rate as outlined by the manager.
  13. Maintain a safe work environment according to all procedures and regulations.

Requirements

The physical requirements for this job include:

  1. Continuous use of computer and office equipment.
  2. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
  3. Occasional lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds.
  4. Standing or walking for 2 hours without rest.
  5. Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders.
  6. Reaching above shoulder height frequently.
  7. Talking and hearing for communication.
  8. Finger and hand dexterity for grasping and holding items.
  9. Vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  10. Reading screens and labels.
