Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc. in Canton, MA is seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader to supervise and perform structural inspections on bridges and ancillary structures.

The role combines team leadership with project management on moderately complex inspection projects, with fieldwork that may include nights and weekends. Relocation is available and the incumbent will coach field staff, manage budgets and schedules, and use design software to prepare documentation.

Qualifications

• Supervise above-water and underwater bridge design, inspection, and evaluations.
• Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on field and/or design issues or adaptations.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets and assist in proposal preparation.
• Accountable for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
• Direct and supervise the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
• Coach field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
• Fieldwork required, which could include nights and weekends.
• Make independent decisions within a general framework.
• Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.

The engineer will supervise and perform structural inspections on bridges and ancillary structures, serving as the team leader. The team leader is responsible for leading inspection teams and assisting in the successful completion of inspection/design projects as well as functioning as the project manager on moderately complex inspection projects.
