PIM Brands in Somerset, New Jersey, seeks a Technical Development Lead to elevate the maintenance team's technical capability through coaching, training, and hands-on guidance. The role includes limited shift-based supervisory duties to ensure production readiness and adherence to safety standards.

You will mentor mechanics, develop troubleshooting guides, and provide support for scheduling and task prioritization. The position requires on-site work in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Formación

• 5 years' experience working with manufacturing equipment preferred.
• 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and Confined Space/Lock-Out Tag-Out requirements.
• Must be computer literate with office, technical and parts and maintenance software packages.
• Willing to be trained; English reading/writing required.

We are looking for a Technical Development Lead interested in a career with a top ranked and growing snack company, to join our Maintenance department at PIM’s Somerset New Jersey location. This position will report to our Manager, Maintenance.

Job Overview

The Technical Development Lead is responsible for elevating the technical capability, performance, and overall effectiveness of the maintenance team. This role focuses primarily on coaching, training, and developing mechanics through hands-on guidance, structured training, and technical support. In addition to development responsibilities, the Technical Development Lead provides limited shift-based supervisory support to ensure production readiness, adherence to safety standards, and alignment with maintenance prioritie

Duties And Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver structured training modules (technical, safety, troubleshooting, equipment-specific, etc.).
• Create hands-on training opportunities and ensure mechanics gain practical experience on critical equipment.
• Track progress and maintain skills matrices to document competency improvements.
• Serve as the go-to technical resource during assigned shifts.
• Support mechanics with troubleshooting
• Assist in developing troubleshooting guides, job aids, and technical documentation.
• Provide real-time coaching during breakdowns and planned maintenance activities.
• Provides support to mechanics for work prioritization, assignment of tasks, and ensuring coverage.
• Supports shift handoffs and communicate maintenance issues, priorities, and resolutions.
• Offer guidance and feedback related to performance and work quality
• Provide informal leadership within the team to support workload balancing.
• Helps to Coordinate emergency and high-priority work, ensuring safe and efficient task delegation.
• Provides support to the maintenance manager for scheduling
• Provide technical guidance to Mechanics Level1, troubleshooting support, and hands-on assistance when needed.
• Ensures safe work practices and ensures a safe work environment
• Address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately and escalates if needed
• Support onboarding and mentoring new mechanics.

Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be evaluated and considered to enable an individual to perform the essential job functions.

Work Environment

Job will generally be performed in the manufacturing plant. Will work around machinery with moving parts. When on the plant floor it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation. Noisy, active, objects on the floor, constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, protective eye wear and gloves are among the GMP required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.

Education, Experience, And Training

• High School education or equivalent is strongly preferred
• 5 years' experience working with manufacturing equipment preferred
• 2 years of supervisory experience
• Working knowledge in operation and maintenance of facility management services, steam generators, refrigeration, air conditioning, generators, blueprint reading and equipment maintenance
• Must possess knowledge of OSHA requirements and Confined Space/Lock-Out Tag-Out requirements
• Must be computer literate with office, technical and parts and maintenance software packages
• Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures in a food manufacturing environment
• Willing to be trained
• Ability to read, speak, and write English is required

Worksite

• The PIM Brands manufacturing site is located in Somerset, New Jersey
• The PIM Brands manfucaturing site is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
