Position Overview
Clark Dietz is seeking an experienced construction engineer to serve as Team Leader for our Central Indiana Construction Team. This team provides construction inspection and documentation services for a wide variety of civil infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, trails, water, sanitary sewer and stormwater facilities. This position will be responsible for managing staff and construction projects, providing technical guidance and acting as the point of contact for clients throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Area Manager on proposals, project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
Manage construction-phase projects with full responsibility for staffing, problem-solving, and QA/QC compliance.
Provide inspection and documentation services on at least one active project to maintain chargeability goals.
Serve as Project Manager for additional projects as needed.
Manage sub-consultant contracts, pre-billing processes, and invoicing.
Coordinate project staffing and work-sharing strategies to ensure team utilization goals.
Maintain and grow client relationships; assist in business development for new opportunities.
Forecast team workload and resource needs.
Lead staff development through coaching, training, and regular team meetings.
Oversee administrative functions including timesheet/expense approvals, interviewing, and hiring recommendations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A.S. Degree in Construction Technology or H.S. Diploma with significant relevant experience required; B.S. in Civil Engineering and IN PE preferred.
10+ years of construction engineering experience, specifically on INDOT and/or LPA projects.
Expert knowledge of civil construction technologies and INDOT procedures (documentation, change orders).
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and budgets.
INDOT certifications required; experience with Site Manager, e-Builder, Primavera, ICORS, Fieldsys, MISTIC, or I-MIRS desired.
Familiarity with modern survey data techniques including robotic equipment and GPS is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Leadership capabilities including mentoring and performance evaluation.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Indiana.
Starting salary range: $102,047 - $137,072
