We currently have an opportunity for an experienced construction engineer to join our Southern Indiana Area (INS-CNN) as Team Leader (P3/P4). Responsibilities will include managing staff and construction projects and being the point of contact for clients throughout the Area for current and future projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Area Manager to develop proposals, project scope, budget, and schedules for all projects.
  • Responsible for staffing, problem solving, and QC/QA on all construction phase projects.
  • Provides inspection/documentation services for at least one active project to meet chargeability goal and acts as Project Manager on other projects.
  • Manages sub-consultant contracts, pre-billing and invoicing for projects that are directly managed.
  • Develops strategies for work-sharing and project staffing to meet chargeability goals for the team.
  • Maintains relationships with existing clients to secure future work and collaborates with Area Manager and marketing staff to pursue work from new clients.
  • Develops and monitors workload forecasts for the team.
  • Provides quarterly coaching to staff, conducts regular staff meetings, and actively works to build the depth of the team through training and development activities.
  • Performs administrative functions including timesheet and expense report approval; conducts candidate interviews and makes staffing recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and IN PE are desired. A.S. Degree in Construction Technology or H.S. Diploma with significant relevant experience is required.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Construction Engineer or Resident Project Representative with responsibility for multiple INDOT and/or LPA construction projects is required.
  • Deep knowledge of civil construction technologies and INDOT procedures including documentation and change orders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet budgets and deadlines.
  • Current INDOT certifications are required and experience with one or more of the following is desired: Site Manager, e-Builder, Primavera, ICORS, Fieldsys, MISTIC or I-MIRS.
  • Knowledge of modern survey data collection techniques using robotic survey equipment and GPS is desired.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work productively with all project stakeholders and resolve issues in a professional manner.
  • Ability to provide guidance and oversight of other team members and provide constructive feedback on work performance.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout Northern Illinois as needed.

Compensation

The starting salary range is $86,528 - $147,514 + hiring bonus and industry leading annual bonus.
