Job summary

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician Team Leader for the 2nd shift in our Appleton, Wisconsin facility. You will lead hands-on maintenance, coordinate daily work, and drive safety, quality, and uptime while mentoring a fast-paced team.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and proven leadership in manufacturing maintenance, with knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement.

Our trucks are designed to perform under the toughest conditions.SummaryThe Maintenance Technician Team Leader serves as a key leader for the 2nd Shift maintenance team, driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement within the department. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with frontline leadership responsibilities, requiring the ability to perform and support all maintenance functions while coordinating daily team operations.The Team Leader is responsible for prioritizing work, coordinating schedules, monitoring workflow, supporting inventory and materials management, and helping team members succeed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position requires strong decision-making skills, effective communication, and the ability to solve practical problems while maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform and demonstrate all maintenance department functions in accordance with Maintenance Technician job requirements.Lead and support 2nd Shift maintenance operations to ensure safety, quality, uptime, and productivity goals are achieved.Coordinate daily scheduling and work assignments for team members based on production priorities and department needs.Monitor workflow and adjust resources as needed to maintain operational efficiency and minimize downtime.Troubleshoot equipment and process issues while supporting timely corrective actions.Conduct product, equipment, and process inspections to ensure compliance with company standards.Manage and maintain inventory levels for maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.Collect, track, and maintain records related to maintenance activities, equipment performance, and statistical process control.Assist in training, mentoring, and guiding team members to support department and company objectives.Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing principles and workplace organization.Prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively and complete tasks according to established timelines and supervisor direction.Make accurate and timely decisions in a dynamic manufacturing environment.Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, leadership, and cross-functional departments.Foster a positive team environment built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.Basic QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Previous leadershipAbility to perform all essential functions of the applicable Maintenance Technician role.Preferred QualificationsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field.Previous maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, value stream concepts, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.Experience with project coordination and maintenance planning.Previous experience building Pierce products preferred.Working knowledge of maintenance systems, inventory management, and process improvement tools.Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and lead effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Oshkosh is committed to working with and offering reasonable accommodations to job applicants with disabilities.
