Job description

About Rivian

Rivianis on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

Lead and mentor a team of Service Parts Engineers across key vehicle domains: Body Systems, Interior, Low Voltage Electrical, Thermal, and Chassis Systems. You will drive end-to-end service parts strategies, ensuring seamless Service Bill of Materials (SBOM) execution, field readiness, and lifecycle management for all current and future vehicle platforms. This role requires a strong technical engineering background to bridge the gap between design engineering, service operations, and supply chain.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Strategy: Direct and mentor a team of domain-specialized Service Parts Engineers (Body, Interior, Low Voltage, Thermal, Chassis). Set technical standards, manage workload allocation, and foster continuous professional development.
  • SBOM & Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete service parts lifecycle, ensuring accurate and complete Service Bill of Materials (SBOM) release, change management, and engineering deviation tracking across all vehicle systems.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Expertise: Serve as the technical escalation point for complex service part issues. Partner with Service Engineering, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Field Service, and Demand Planning to resolve interchangeability, part release, and serviceability challenges.
  • Field Support & Compliance: Guide the Service Parts Engineering team in supporting field service actions, safety recalls, and compliance initiatives to maximize vehicle uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Process Improvement: Optimize service engineering workflows, tools, and cross-functional handoffs between core engineering and downstream service publication/catalog teams.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of automotive engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in a direct technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep technical proficiency across core vehicle subsystems: Body, Interior, Low Voltage Electrical (LVE), Thermal, and Chassis systems.
  • CAD/PLM Systems: Proven hands-on experience with PLM and CAD software (e.g., Enovia, CATIA V6).
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to root-cause complex mechanical and electrical integration issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional leadership and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for 8-10 hours per day
  • Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail
  • Ability to view, read, and interpret documents
  • Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations
