Job summary

Cummins Clean Fuel Technologies seeks a Fabrication Lead to supervise 2nd shift fabrication and painting teams. The role plans and assigns fabrication work, implements procedures, and drives continuous improvements.

You will maintain equipment uptime, schedule maintenance, and guide the team to meet production and aftermarket demands. The position requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to multi-task.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ten years manufacturing experience in a related industry; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience operating CNC Laser, CNC Tube Bender, CNC Press Brake, Welding, and Paint Application.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies are a plus.
  • Driver license with insurability.
  • Texas Railroad Commission licenses for CNG; pass exam within 90 days.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Accept full responsibility for the PRP forecast for fabricated parts and prioritize release to meet production and aftermarket needs.
  • Correct routings to ensure proper sequence of operations and material for assembly.
  • Ensure ERP steps in fabrication standard work are followed.
  • Develop inspection points for components to ensure consistency and fits.
  • Ensure fabrication operations comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and standardize part expedite processes in fabrication.
  • Manage department performance measures and report progress to the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain daily communication with Production and Warehouse Managers for needs and priorities.
  • Address Corrective Action Plans for Materials department.
  • Support collaboration with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality Control.

Cummins Clean Fuel Technologies is looking for a Team Lead to join our 2nd shift team. Schedule is Monday- Friday 8 hours a day, 4pm to 12:30am. There is a shift differential included with 2nd shift .
This position will act as a lead for both the paint and fabrication employees on 2nd shift.

Summary

The Fabrication Lead is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns fabrication work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in fabrication methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. They are also responsible for maintenance plans on all fabrication equipment, to increase uptime and limit scheduled downtime.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities:

  • Accept full responsibility for the PRP forecast for fabricated parts while prioritizing and releasing jobs to meet the demands of the production schedule and aftermarket order requirements.
  • Correct routings as necessary to have the appropriate sequence of operations and material needed to complete assembly process.
  • Ensure that all ERP required steps in the fabrication standard work process are followed.
  • Develop inspection points on necessary components for consistency and critical fits during the fabrication process.
  • Ensure that fabrication operations follow all internal, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, refine, and standardize part expedite processes through fabrication.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to Operations Manager.
  • Maintain daily communication with Production Manager and Warehouse Manager on needs and prioritization.
  • Apply in-depth understanding of the flow of material, parts, and assemblies through the manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Ensure effective employee relations through employee coaching and development.
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate positive corporate citizenship.

  • Directly address and manage Corrective Action Plans relating to the Materials department.
  • Support activities between Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality Control/Quality Assurance as appropriate.
  • Must establish goals for each person within the department, delegate, and train others as necessary allowing adequate time to effectively lead the fabrication department.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in business operational shrewdness, good judgment, planning, communicating orally and in writing, business knowledge, and expertise within areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a positive corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, integrity, and a constructive work environment, enabling the company to attract, retain, and motivate quality employees and to increase customer satisfaction and retention.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ten years’ manufacturing experience in a related industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with operating CNC Laser, CNC Tube Bender, CNC Press Brake, Welding, and Paint Application are preferred.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • If required to drive, for any reason, on behalf of the company, must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • All applicable employee level licenses with the Texas Railroad Commission in relation to Compressed Natural Gas. Must be able to pass exam within 90 days of hire.
  • Personal computer skills, familiarity with ERP business systems software required for the specific area of responsibility.
