Position Summary: The Medical Laboratory Scientist Team Lead at the LAB conducts laboratory tests on patient specimens, providing critical information for diagnosis, treatment, or disease prevention. Responsibilities include maintaining records, exercising independent judgment to produce accurate results within quality standards, participating in research, and instructing staff and students on laboratory procedures. The role involves developing and modifying procedures, supporting technical and administrative functions, and serving as a key resource within and outside the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
  2. 1-3 years of training/experience in high complexity testing in the relevant specialty.
  3. Certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or an equivalent certifying body.
  4. In-depth knowledge of complex laboratory techniques and procedures.
  5. Familiarity with specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance.
  6. Ability to maintain quality control records.
  7. Proficiency in computer use for entering and retrieving test results.
  8. Strong understanding of standard operating procedures and testing techniques.
  9. Analytical skills for quantitative and qualitative observations.
  10. Ability to work independently, handle interruptions, and manage multiple tasks.
  11. Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
