Job summary

Plansee USA LLC in Franklin, MA is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to coordinate operator assignments, perform routine machine operations, and help plan manufacturing processes. This hourly role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a high-precision environment.

You will train new employees, monitor tooling and program updates, and contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives while aligning with ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; vocational tech cert preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in manufacturing.
  • Familiar with CNC tools and lathe/mill programming.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication and equipment.
  • Lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using SAP (MRP) desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including coaching and mentoring; strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assignments of operators/machinists to ensure efficient production.
  • Assist with planning manufacturing processes and improvements.
  • Perform routine machine operations, including start-up/shutdown.
  • Monitor machine performance for quality output and parts quality.
  • Train new employees in setup, operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Update, develop and troubleshoot machine programs and tooling.
  • Provide group leadership in safety, cost, production and ISO/AS9100 compliance.
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities and continuing needs across shifts.
  • Assist in providing input to annual performance reviews.
  • Stay current on machining methods and CNC program enhancements.
  • Embrace ownership for new requests and opportunities to add value.
  • Support company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as required.

Position type: Hourly
  • Coordinates the assignments of operators/machinists to ensure efficient production and assists supervision in the planning of manufacturing processes and improvements.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as directed and provide feedback to supervisor relating to performance of team members and/or equipment.
  • Performs routine operations of assigned machine(s), including but not limited to start-up/shutdown and operation of equipment.
  • Monitors machine performance regarding quality output and quality of parts produced using standard inspection instruments.
  • Responsible for training new employees in set-up, operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Update, develop and troubleshoot machine programs and tooling problems and correct as necessary to maintain production.
  • Provide group leadership in the attainment of goals with respect to safety, cost, production and compliance to ISO: 9001:2000 and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Assist in providing input to team members' annual performance review.
  • Stay current on new/improved machining methods, CNC program enhancements and state-of-the-art tools.
  • Embrace ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
  • Support company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED. Vocational technical certification is preferred.
  • Five years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be familiar with CNC machine tools and functions, programming and editing lathe and/or milling machines.
  • Must be familiar with all phases of metal fabrication, assembly and equipment.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures including lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including basic trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using MRP system (SAP) desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including coaching, mentoring, and developing employees; fostering positive and productive working relationships; effectively managing team performance; and utilizing strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to build trust, collaborate across teams, manage relationships effectively, and create a positive and inclusive work environment.
