Position Purpose:

Responsible for verifying operators checks, helping with changeovers, tool changes, and assisting operators to meet customer needs. This can include running any of the equipment in the department, including Material Handling and/or Shipping.

Compensation:

Hourly pay: $23.75 + additional $0.75 for 2nd shift/ $1.00 for 3rd shift.

Essential Functions:
  • Replacing lathe tooling and components; confirming geometry accuracy with all lathe tools (Monthly PM Tool Touch offs).
  • Monitoring quality of all parts to ensure they meet specifications as per the part print.
  • Managing parts needing rework and disposition in quarantine.
  • Troubleshooting machine operations to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Operating Okuma’s and Mazaks lathes.
  • Collaborating with supervision and maintenance to troubleshoot and ensure machine efficiency.
  • Performing minor machine maintenance, such as oiling.
  • Training employees safely and efficiently in a production environment.
  • Filling in for Supervisor when needed, collecting downtime info, and making work orders.
  • Understanding and explaining work instructions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Training:

High School diploma or GED; blueprint reading and precision measuring skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Dependability and adherence to safety rules.
Physical Demands:
  • Standing for 8-12 hours.
  • Working in tight spaces.
  • Manual dexterity for tool operation.
  • Lifting up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Repetitive twisting, bending, lifting.
  • Climbing and manual labor.
  • Good visual acuity for reading blueprints and recording data.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Exposure to noise, heat, humidity, coolants, oils, grease, and water.
  • Use of ear and eye protection, steel toe boots with metatarsal guards in production areas.
