Job summary

The Jay Group Inc in Pennsylvania is seeking a Team Lead for a fulfillment area. You will plan and direct work for 8–15 associates, assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure on-time order fulfillment, quality, and safety.

Strong leadership, communication, and WMS proficiency are essential. Responsibilities include start-of-shift huddles, reporting daily results, and escalating blockers to the Fulfillment Supervisor.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of warehouse, fulfillment, or distribution experience.
• Experience planning and directing work for a team of 8–15.
• Working knowledge of WMS (Manhattan preferred) and RF-directed processes.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Teams, and dashboard tools for daily reporting.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and Direct the Work for the assigned area, aligning staffing to the daily plan.
• Assign associates to functions and zones; rebalance labor as volume shifts.
• Run start-of-shift huddles covering plan, priorities, safety, and client requirements.
• Own the results: monitor orders-out on time, area productivity, quality, and housekeeping.
• Monitor progress via dashboards; escalate blockers to supervisor with facts.
• Submit End-of-Day reports detailing results vs. plan and any misses or carryover.
• Build the team through cross-training and coaching; support attendance and reviews.
• Enforce safety, PPE, and 5S standards; maintain accurate WMS transactions.

Job description

The Team Lead runs an assigned area of the fulfillment operation through their team — not through their own production. The Team Lead plans and assigns the work, keeps associates productive and safe, removes barriers, communicates status up and down, and is accountable for the daily results of their area: orders out on time, productivity to standard, quality, and safety. This is a leadership role. Success is measured by what the team produces, not by what the Team Lead personally picks, packs, or receives.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and Direct the WorkReview the wave plan, order profile, and client priorities before shift start; align staffing to the day's plan.Assign associates to functions and zones; rebalance labor throughout the shift as volume and priorities shift.Run a start-of-shift huddle covering the plan, priorities, safety topic, and any client-specific requirements.Own the ResultsAccountable for daily order-out performance, area productivity vs. standard (UPH), quality, and housekeeping.Monitor progress against plan during the shift using Qlik dashboards and Manhattan WMS; act on gaps before they become misses.Manage area overtime to the approved labor plan; escalate before incurring unplanned OT.CommunicateSubmit a complete End-of-Day (EOD) report every shift: results vs. plan, misses and causes, carryover, staffing notes.Escalate blockers (inventory, systems, equipment, staffing) to the Fulfillment Supervisor promptly with facts.Provide clear shift-to-shift handoffs so the next lead starts with full context.Build the TeamTrain and cross-train associates to standard work; verify competency before releasing them to work independently.Coach performance and conduct in the moment; recognize good work; document and escalate repeat issues.Support attendance management and provide input to associate reviews and progression decisions.Protect Safety and QualityEnforce safe work practices, PPE, and equipment rules; stop unsafe work immediately.Maintain 5S/housekeeping standards in the assigned area; complete required audits.Ensure Manhattan WMS transactions are executed accurately and timely (picks, packs, receipts, moves, counts).Qualifications2+ years of warehouse, fulfillment, or distribution experience; prior lead or trainer experience preferred.Working knowledge of a WMS (Manhattan preferred) and RF-directed processes.Able to plan and assign work for a team of 8–15, communicate clearly in person and in writing, and hold standards respectfully.Basic proficiency with Outlook, Teams, and dashboard tools sufficient to complete daily reporting.Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.About Jay Group:Jay Group is an industry-leading provider of warehouse inventory management, ecommerce fulfillment, transportation, and specialty packaging services.
