Job summary

The University of Idaho is seeking a Teaching Lab Instructor to support BIOL 3150 Genetics Lab, hosted at the Coeur d'Alene Harbor Center for Fall 2026. The position will work with a Moscow-based instructor and graduate teaching assistants to deliver consistent lab content to students in Coeur d'Alene and ensure access to needed equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities include maintaining wild-type and mutant Drosophila lines used in genetic experiments, overseeing safe work practices, mentoring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
  • Prior coursework in Genetics
  • Experience teaching undergraduate laboratory courses
  • Experience with Drosophila in education or research environment

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a teaching assistant for one section of BIOL 3150 Genetics Lab
  • Deliver consistent lab content to students in Coeur d'Alene in collaboration with Moscow-based instructor and graduate TAs
  • Maintain wild-type and mutant Drosophila lines and equipment for student-led experiments
  • Oversee safe work practices in the lab
  • Mentor student projects and answer questions
  • Grade student lab reports

Position Summary: Position Summary: The position will serve as a teaching assistantfor one section of BIOL 3150 Genetics Lab to be held at the Coeurd'Alene Harbor Center during the Fall 2026 semester.Responsibilities include working with Moscow-based instructor andgraduate teaching assistants to offer consistent lab contentdelivery to students in Coeur d'Alene; maintaining wild-type andmutant lines of Drosophila and equipment and suppliesneeded for student-led genetic experiments; overseeing safe workpractices; mentoring student projects and answering questions;grading student lab reports.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
  • Prior coursework in Genetics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Drosophila in education or researchenvironment
  • Experience teaching undergraduate laboratory courses
  • Previous student in University of Idaho BIOL 315/3150 Genetics Laboratory
